In a joint press release read on national television this Monday, March 27, 2023, the Ministers of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Trade, Industry and SMEs, brought to the attention of Guinean citizens, in particular operators economic, the ban on the export of fish in all its forms. The ban runs from March 27 to April 22, 2023.
In said press release, the signatories specify that this ban does not apply to certain fish products, in particular octopus, squid and shrimp. However, instructions have been given to territorial administrators, the decentralized services of the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and SMEs at border posts, the General Directorate of Customs and the General Directorate of the Border Police to ensure, each as far as it is concerned, the strict application of the decision.
In addition, the document indicates that anyone violating this measure is liable to the payment of a fine which is without prejudice to the prosecution that may result.
This measure comes following the ban on the export of basic necessities.
