During the meeting of the strategic orientation and coordination committee for the consolidation of peace in Guinea, the Prime Minister, Bah Oury, recalled the efforts made by the transitional authorities in favor of national reconciliation and consolidation of peace.

According to the head of government, several concrete actions were carried out, in particular the national meetings, which allowed the development of a global document on reconciliation. However, despite the manifest will of the leaders, Bah Oury insists on the need for maturity of Guinean society to reach a level of understanding, acceptance and commitment conducive to the consolidation of peace.
“This is why, since taking power on September 5, 2021, the central action of the President of the Republic, General Mamadi Doumbouya, has been to launch the national conference, the objective of which was to allow society to express themselves, to bring to light the suffering and frustrations accumulated over time, in order to bring out relevant recommendations to achieve peace, cohesion and, finally, national reconciliation. This work has already been accomplished, and it has resulted in 45 relevant recommendations,” he explained.

The Prime Minister also recalled the support of the United Nations system through the Human Rights Office, which contributed to advancing this reconciliation process: “A global document for national reconciliation has already been developed and awaits some adjustments to be validated. This demonstrates the political will of the transitional authorities.”

Bah Oury then indicated that peace and its consolidation are not quick or simple processes. “Each step requires special attention, as new threats and emerging conflicts may arise,” he added, emphasizing the importance of having organizational capacity to bring all actors together and avoid divisions.

“The internal engagement of thinking and questioning skills is essential to promote virtuous governance. This will prevent disrupted societies, faced with new challenges, from falling into disorder, and ensure that they can move forward coherently towards the consolidation of peace and development,” concluded the Prime Minister. .
