Mohamed Béavogui, a development technocrat, said following his appointment in October that his government would carry out the tasks assigned by the junta.

The junta said it would return power to civilians following elections at the end of a so-called three-year transition period. She said she wanted to proceed during this period with a “refoundation of the State”, write a new Constitution, fight once morest corruption, reform the electoral system, organize elections and reconcile divided Guineans.

The opposition denounces an authoritarian exercise of power.

The confirmation of Mr. Gomou went hand in hand with a ministerial reshuffle with only two new entrants, without the influence of the military being altered.
