Affected by the continuous heavy rainfall, the water level of the Lijiang River in Guilin rose rapidly, causing the first flood that exceeded the warning level this year, and the entire Lijiang River was closed.

According to China News Agency, on Binjiang Road, Jiefangqiao, Guilin City, the rising river water flooded the road this morning (5th), and many road sections were flooded. At the Six Horse Wharf of Jiefang Bridge, the bronze statue of the six horses was flooded. The Elephant Trunk Hill, the city emblem of Guilin, located on the edge of the Li River, was flooded by most of the “Elephant Trunk Hill”, and the Elephant Trunk Hill Scenic Spot was temporarily closed that day.

In order to ensure the safety of water traffic, the Guilin Maritime Safety Administration will impose a ban on ships and rafts along the Lijiang River from 8:40 on June 5. This is also the first time this year that the Guilin Maritime Safety Administration has taken control measures once morest ships and rafts on the Li River at the same time.

At present, the Guilin Maritime Safety Administration has dispatched law enforcement vessels to conduct on-site inspections in key waters and wharves within its jurisdiction to strengthen the supervision of water traffic safety.

According to the forecast of the Guilin Meteorological Department, it will rain heavily in Guilin on the 5th, accompanied by strong convective weather such as short-term thunderstorms and strong winds. Guilin Hydrology Center predicts that the water level of many river sections in Guilin will continue to rise in the next 24 hours.
