When two planes collide of the Italian Air Force both pilots died. The light aircraft collided during a training mission over the central Italian city of Guidonia Montecelio near Rome, the Air Force announced on Tuesday. The cause of the crash was initially unclear.

The other wreck is burning in a field.

“Our prayers are with them”

Die Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed dismay at the crash and the death of the two pilots. “On behalf of the government, I express my deepest condolences and solidarity to the families, colleagues of the 60th Squadron and the Air Force. Our prayers are for them,” said the right-wing politician, according to a statement.
