Guerlain Chicherit is ready for the 2024 Dakar (January 5-19). After testing it during the Morocco Rally last September, the French driver will drive the Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1+, fielded by his team GCK Motorsport and operated by Overdrive Racing. Slight difference therefore compared to 2023 since he competed in the event with the Prodrive Hunter T1+.
But unlike the last edition, Guerlain Chicherit will not be the only representative of his team. Indeed, there will be two Toyota GR DKR Hilux T1+ at the start of the 2024 Dakar since Guillaume de Mévius joins the ranks of the French team. A Franco-Belgian alliance which will therefore begin in Saudi Arabia and will extend over several seasons in the World Rally Raid Championship, W2RC. Alex Winock and Xavier Panseri will be the respective co-drivers.
« Endurance is one of the keys to winning the Dakarpoints out Guerlain Chicherit who will be at the wheel of the Hilux 211. In this quest, I will be able to count on the help of Guillaume (de Mévius) with whom we are currently building a very beautiful project for the future. »
For his part, Guillaume de Mévius is impatient to compete in his first Dakar at the wheel of a T1+. “ Teaming up with Guerlain (Chicherit) is a great opportunityhe rejoices. He has a lot of experience in Rally-Raids and I still have a lot to learn. It’s super motivating to be able to work together and build my future in this category. For me the objective on this Dakar will be to get as close as possible to the top-5. I am mainly aiming for the title of best Rookie. »
On Saudi soil next month, the Tricolore and the Belgian will sport a new special livery. After the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max in 2023, Guerlain Chicherit has this time a series from the 1980s: The Man Who Falls at the Right Time. Thus, the Hilux will mix brown and gold.
