A Guatemalan mother and her 4-year-old daughter were murdered in the backyard of the house where they lived in the state of Florida, United States.

“Authorities found a woman dead in a pool of blood in the backyard. They also discovered the body of a girl inside the home,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said.

The victims were identified as Amalia Coc, 38, and Estella Coc, 4, who were originally from Sayaxché, Petén, in Guatemala.

According to local Florida media, both They left Tierra Blanca, Petén, approximately seven months ago, to improve their quality of life and entered the United States illegally.
