The Haitians reacted just three minutes later through Bryan Destin, but referee Filberto Martinez ruled out the play after consulting the VAR and marking a foul prior to the play by his compatriot Belmar Joseph.

Destin did not give up and finally got the reward for his perseverance from the penalty spot, after beating goalkeeper Fausto Delgado with a powerful shot and scoring the equaliser for 5-1.

As the minutes passed, the Chapines managed to control the rest of the match, against a Haitian team that could not overcome the defensive block plated by Guatemalan national team coach Marvin Cabrera.

The Blue and White will be in the quarterfinals of the Pre-World Cup and will face the United States team on Wednesday for a ticket to the World Cup in their category.
