Guatemala loses points, but maintains the same position in Fifa ranking

Fifa updated its world ranking of national teams and the National Bicolor maintains its place.

This Thursday, February 15, Fifa published the most recent update of its world ranking of national teams. This new publication made by the entity that governs football does not have many changes in privileged positions.

The Argentine National Team, current world champion, continues to lead the classification and surpasses France and England on the podium. Belgium, Brazil, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Croatia complete the top 10.

In the Concacaf area, the region where the Guatemalan National Team competes, it did not suffer many changes either, in fact, the National Bicolor remains in position 108, the same position in which it finished in 2023.

Guatemala has 1188.17 points, 1.81 less than in 2023 and remains 39.88 away from reaching Trinidad and Tobago, the Concacaf team closest to it. The Blue and White is number 12 in the area.

The United States continues to lead the region with 1661.7 points, while Mexico, Panama and Canada follow.

Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras, El Salvador, Haiti, Curacao and Trinidad and Tobado are all teams that are above Guatemala.

The next matches of the team led by Luis Fernando Tena will be next March against Ecuador and Venezuela.

Subsequently, the Bicolor will begin the World Cup qualifier first against Dominica on Wednesday, June 5 at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores and later, on June 8, they will visit either British Virgin Islands or US Virgin Islands.
