Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday that his young striker, Erling Haaland, who scored a hat-trick once morest Manchester United last Sunday, is competing “in his own league” in terms of the number of goals.
Haaland became the first player in the Premier League to score three hat-tricks in three consecutive matches following the last match in which “City” won a landslide victory over the Red Devils, 6-3.
Guardiola said of Haaland: “Certainly, no one can compete with him, at his age. Nobody. The numbers speak for themselves. In the dressing room, on the pitch, we see things that are not in the stats, that make us happy to have him here.”
And if the 22-year-old Norwegian scores six more goals in the Champions League, he will break the record set by Kylian Mbappe in terms of the number of goals scored by the latter when he was 23 years old.
Manchester City will face FC Copenhagen on Wednesday in the tournament, where the English club leads its group following two victories over the Spanish club, Seville and the German club, Borussia Dortmund.
