Asunción, IP Agency.- Some nine boys and girls in a situation of priority adoption obtained final adoption in five families, within the framework of the Alternative Care and Adoption Program promoted by the Government through the Ministry of Children and Adolescents.

The Minister of Children and Adolescents, Walter Gutiérrez, participated in the delivery of the final adoption sentences of 9 boys and girls in a situation of priority adoption in the Court of Luque.

At the event, the minister congratulated the five new “Guarda Families”, who with this selfless gesture claim the right to live as a family that these 9 boys and girls have.

“Our goal is to give them the opportunity to grow in a warm and safe environment, where love and protection are the basis of their development. Because we firmly believe that every child and adolescent deserves to have a home and grow up with a family that cares for them,” the minister had said at the launch of the “National Alternative Care and Adoption Program,” called “Guardian Families», which aims to restore the fundamental right to live as a family.

In an interview with the Government Spokesperson, broadcast yesterday Monday, Minister Gutiérrez reiterated the importance of giving the child a welcoming family as an alternative for care, who are the ones who give love and protection to children, as well as the efforts to achieve definitive adoption, taking into account that these processes took a long time due to lack of resources.

In this sense, he highlighted that bureaucracy has now been reduced and resources have been allocated to ensure that the procedures advance within reasonable deadlines.

He indicated that there are currently approximately 1,000 children who are separated from their families in shelter institutions and that the Government’s decision is for these children to grow and develop in a family.
