With this, Guararapes consolidates itself among the largest producers of wood panels in the Americas. “This moment is a milestone for us and for the sector, and reinforces our position among the main players in the segment. We will offer an even more complete portfolio, both for the domestic and export markets. And of course, always focusing on customer service”, celebrates Ricardo Pedroso, CEO of Guararapes. The company is present in more than 50 countries.

Despite the adverse economic scenario, Guararapes expects to grow at least 15% in net revenue in 2023. “We are optimistic, we hope to reap good results. We have one of the most modern plants in the world, with state-of-the-art equipment, highly productive, flexible and sustainable”, details Pedroso.

Investment in sustainability

Sustainability is one of Guararapes’ priorities. The new plant has a closed circuit evaporator, which receives the raw effluent, separates the solid content from the liquid and allows the reuse of the condensed material in the industrial process. “The main objective of this system is to eliminate the release of effluent into the environment, in addition to generating savings in the use of water, as we are using the water in the wood, transforming it into steam and no longer capturing water from the subsoil”, explains Diorgenes Bertolin, industrial director of Guararapes.

For even greater reuse of water, three large lakes were built in the factory area, with a capacity of 38,132 m³, to collect rain. In addition to the direct rainwater, the external area of 243,568 m² was also built with specific drainage for rainwater disposal in the lakes, for later reuse.

Guararapes is already recognized in the market for its commitment to the environment. The company has the FSC® – Forest Stewardship Council® seal (FSC-C041303 license code), which highlights its commitment to environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management, as well as ISO 14001.
