The judge of the Third Guarantee Court of Santiago, Pamela Muñoz, decided to maintain the precautionary measure of preventive detention against the mayor of Recoleta, Daniel Jadue, despite the request of his defense to reduce the precautionary measure that has kept the mayor in the Captain Yáber Penitentiary Annex for 35 days.

The defense of the mayor, who was seeking to change the precautionary measure to night confinement and national roots, has already announced that they will review the judge’s arguments and will use “all resources” available to reverse this measure.

Earlier, the court refused to postpone the hearing due to a motion for procedural nullity raised by attorney Juan Carlos Manríquez, who argued that the court had made “procedurally defective” decisions, which would affect the constitutional guarantees of due process and equality before the law.

In addition, a request was made to disqualify judges Paulina Moya and Katherine Román, all of which were rejected.

Daniel Jadue (PC) is charged with unfair administration, fraud, bribery, bankruptcy and tax fraud. This is within the framework of the management of the Chilean Association of Municipalities with Popular Pharmacies (Achifarp).

It is worth mentioning that July 17 is the deadline for the mayor to remain absent from his municipal duties, after which he can be removed from office.
