Events.- Authorities of the Municipal Transportation Institute of the Guajira Municipality, in the state of Zulia, agreed on measures that regulate the circulation of motorcycles in that border region of the country, in an attempt to prevent criminal acts.
Albis Urdaneta, member of the Chamber of Transportation in the Guajira municipality, reported that there were three agreed points.
The first has to do with the schedule of motorcycle taxi drivers, which was established from 5:00 in the morning to 8:00 at night.
The second point was the entry into force of a decree signed by the mayor of La Guajira, Indira Fernández, prohibiting the use of closed helmets and balaclavas in motorcycle-type vehicles.
And finally, the carrying out of a census that will be carried out with the support of the so-called communes, to determine the number of public and private motorcycles in the communities, both national and Colombian.

Urdaneta pointed out that these measures will be carried out for the “good of motorists.”
“We demand safety and we also demand respect for motorists,” he added.
For her part, Lorena Fernández, director of the Municipal Transportation Institute of the Guajira Municipality, explained that the measure came into effect this Tuesday, February 20 throughout the municipality.
To comply with these measures, the municipality established an agreement with the representatives of the different security organizations that are based in La Guajira, such as the Zulia State Police, the Scientific and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Municipal Police itself.
The authorities indicated that these operations will be carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, along the Caribbean Trunk.
