Guaidó: Three fractions of the AN seek to suppress the interim government (+ video)

He insisted that the discussion does not focus on him but on “defending the institution (AN) that offers the possibility of achieving change in the country.”

The opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, issued a message to Venezuelans ahead of the first discussion of the reform of the Law for the Transition Statute that will be presented by the deputies elected in 2015.

The first of two debates to discuss the one-year extension of the National Assembly elected in 2015was summoned for this Thursday, December 22.

Guaidó explained that the proposals are regarding “protecting the constitutional figure of the presidency in charge, the basis for ignoring Nicolás Maduro, despite the fact that three factions seek to suppress the interim government.”

This is referring to the statements made by opposition leaders from Primero Justicia (PJ), Acción Democrática (AD) and Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT), in which they revealed that they will propose to the Delegate Commission the elimination of the interim government.

He insisted that the discussion does not focus on him but on “defending the institution (AN) that offers the possibility of achieving change in the country and unity in the face of the primaries and subsequent presidential elections.”

Lastly, he highlighted the recognition of the interim government in several countries and the targeted sanctions for Venezuelan government personalities.
