One mod de GTA V who made use of artificial intelligence to generate dialogues with NPCs was removed. The order came from Take-Two Interactivewho is the owner of Rockstar Games. In this way, the company’s action affected both the download page on the Nexus Mods as for the demo video of the modification.

Call of Sentient Streetsthe amendment made by Bloc gave players the opportunity to talk to NPCs within the game. In this sense, it was possible to use a microphone and the non-playable characters, in turn, responded to phrases created by the AI.

The tool uses phrases created by a natural language model and this made conversations with these figures more realistic and dynamic. Bloc affirms that he did not receive any notice or explanation from the company before the removal.

The project’s developer also said he was disappointed with the company’s hostile action, as it used a non-communicative approach, according to him. Furthermore, the creator said that the company seemed to want to “attack and take a stand once morest the mod“.

According to Bloc, the project was free, open source and did not use GTA voices or content. Not only that, but he even quoted a statement from Rockstar, in which he stated that “believes in the creativity of fans and wants creators to show their passion for our games“.

Either way, this situation is yet another chapter in a “rollercoaster” relationship between the developer and the modding community. Finally, also see a realism modification applied to the game and the change that put Captain Patria in the game.
