The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI continues to grow as fans of Rockstar Games’ iconic franchise continue to demand information on the long-awaited sequel. However, according to Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, the studio’s priority is to perfect the game before release.

Rockstar always intends to exceed its limits

With it already been ten years since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, which continues to sell phenomenally, players are increasingly eager to get their hands on a new iteration of the acclaimed franchise. Although the development of Grand Theft Auto 6 was confirmed last year, the question of how long it will have to wait remains unanswered.

During a recent interview with The Aarthi and Sriram Show, Strauss Zelnick was asked regarding the process of developing a new game in a franchise as popular as Grand Theft Auto, as well as the balance between innovation and adhering to the established formula of the series. The CEO stressed that Rockstar’s philosophy for this current project is to “pursue perfection”, an ambition he has expressed in the past. Zelnick said this:

“I think that’s a challenge that people at Rockstar have to take on with each new iteration of Grand Theft Auto. On the one hand, it has to be something you’ve never seen before, and on the other part, it has to reflect the spirit of Grand Theft Auto, and it’s a big challenge for the team.

Rockstar’s answer is to strive for perfection, nothing less than perfection, and we will get there.”

The Grand Theft Auto franchise has always been bold in its experimentation, even sticking to the established formula. For example, Grand Theft Auto 4 introduced a realistic tone and deeper immersion into the game world, while Grand Theft Auto 5 offered multiple playable protagonists, providing a unique narrative experience.

According to the leaks, Grand Theft Auto 6, set in Vice City, will feature two playable protagonists, including a female, a first for the series in a main game.

Recent reports suggest that the highly anticipated open-world sequel might launch in fiscal year 24/25, which runs from April 2024 to March 2025. Take-Two expects net revenue to exceed $8 billion. for this period.

Fans will therefore have to continue to wait to discover the next evolution of Grand Theft Auto. Rockstar Games remains committed to delivering an exceptional gaming experience and achieving perfection before unveiling their latest creation to gamers around the world.
