In documents found showing correspondence between Microsoft and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) regarding the Activision decision, a publication date for Grand Theft Auto VI was spotted by an eagle-eyed fan.
It’s another day without GTA VI announcement and fans of the series are searching everywhere for any clue regarding a release date. While 10 years have passed since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, It’s safe to say we’re all ready for the final installment. However, Rockstar Games doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to announce it. To help deal with the lack of information, a fan recently turned his attention to the Microsoft/Activision decision documents and he may have spotted something important.
The poster took to r/GTA6 to share his findings. “In Microsoft’s response to the CMA regarding the decision regarding Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision/Blizzard, there is a section intended to highlight games in the ‘shooter’ category from other publishers, primarily games comparable in size to Call of Duty,” they explained. “Take-Two is mentioned, having Grand Theft Auto V et Red Dead Redemption 2 like games with “shooting” elements, and he also mentions that Grand Theft Auto VI expected to be released by 2024.”
“Whether that means calendar 2024 or fiscal year 2024, I’m not sure, but it’s interesting that it’s mentioned in a document regarding two completely different companies. I doubt anything this speculative would be mentioned in an official document submitted to the UK government,” so there must be some behind-the-scenes confirmation of the game and its potential release date.
This news is consistent with the recent leak that we might expect a GTA VI announcement from October 26. If this is true, we only have a few weeks to wait, but keep in mind that this is just a leaked rumor and has not been confirmed by Rockstar.
