High expenses

The fifth installment in the Rockstar Games GTA series was a massive game and a huge success. The online mode is played by many to this day.

Everything is waiting for the latest offshoot of the GTA series. In fact, the developers haven’t even labeled the game as GTA 6, only saying that they are “delighted to confirm that active development of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway”.

Big sum

The game is said to be the most expensive game of all time. When GTA 5 launched in September 2013, the total cost from start to finish was estimated at around $265 million. However, the total cost of GTA 6 will dwarf that sum if recent reports are to be believed. As Gamerficial reports, GTA YouTuber INTER recently said that GTA 6 might cost around $1 billion overall if marketing costs are factored in.

They added that the budget for developing the game alone might be at least $250 million. However, the total budget might be even higher as a previous leak suggested the game budget might be closer to $2 billion. If any of these reports are true, GTA 6 will be the most expensive game ever made, and by a wide margin. The most expensive video game in the world is the crowdfunding title Star Citizen, which has grossed around half a billion dollars since 2012.

In a post on the GTA forums, whistleblower Tez2 said that Rockstar might be preparing to update adoring fans on the progress of GTA 6 this summer.
