Gstaad Pro Tour: Swiss Duos Aim for Victory After Years of Waiting

The Swiss hope to put an end to 11 years of waiting during the Pro Tour in Gstaad and finally find the podium. The best chances of achieving this are for the duos Joana Mäder/Anouk Vergé-Dépré and Tanja Hüberli/Nina Brunner.

For this 23rd edition, it is above all Hüberli/Brunner who seem to have the best cards. This season, during the 3 previous tournaments of the same level, they played the leading roles with a quarter-final, a semi-final and a final.

The 2021 European champions are thirsty for revenge following their failure last year. Arrived with big ambitions, the two Swiss women had been eliminated in the 8th. They also had to settle for 4th place in 2019. The last podium for a Swiss duo dates back to 2012, the work of Simone Kuhn and Nadine Zumkehr.

Joana Mäder and Anouk Vergé-Dépré arrive a little more uncertain. The shoulder injury suffered last year by Mäder led to a long interruption of competition, until the end of April. But the pair showed good dispositions by reaching the quarters in Uberlandia and Ostrava.

A 3rd Swiss duo will be competing in the main draw for the ladies with Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré.
