Studio GSC Game World commented on recent reports that Microsoft has begun refunding money for pre-orders of the post-apocalyptic shooter STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, recently transferred from December 8 to 2023.
Recall that as a reason for the reimbursement of Microsoft pointed out rescheduling a release “at an unconfirmed date in the future”. Following the mailing, the Microsoft Store stopped accepting pre-orders for the game altogether.
There is nothing surprising in this: the Microsoft Store policy provides a refund for pre-ordering games without an exact release date. Why this happened now is not clear, but the situation provoked a wave of rumors regarding another delay in the release.
GSC Game World PR manager Zakhar Bocharov confirms that the pre-order will return to Xbox with the announcement of the exact date: “December 2023 is like a stub until we publicly announce a new date. While STALKER 2 comes out sometime in 2023″.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is being developed for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S. Despite the postponement, the game is still available for pre-order on PC, but not in Russia.
