Grynet Molvig regrets her life decision – was separated from her son

Grynet Molvig has a long and solid career.
But she does not consider herself to have been “the world’s best mother” in all situations.
– I may not get an award for being the world’s best mother, but that’s okay, she says to Hemtrevligt.

She has turned 81 – but feeding pigeons in the park as a pensioner is nothing for Norwegian-born Grynet Molvig. Now she is current with the autobiography Alla kallar mig Grynet.

– I think that every job can be the last, that’s how it is at my age. But I work because I think it’s fun, not because I have to, Grynet has previously told Aftonbladet.

Grynet began her career in acting already at the age of twelve and became something of Hasse and Tages’ muse. She was in revues such as Spader madame and films such as The Man Who Quit Smoking.

– I feel spoiled to have been able to sing their fantastic lyrics and melodies. I am aware that I have been lucky. And I was always the youngest, until I suddenly became the oldest. I don’t know what happened, Grynet tells Hemtrevligt.

“You shouldn’t be afraid of getting old”

Aging is not something Grynet likes to talk about, but is not afraid of either.

– Sometimes you feel ancient and sometimes you feel very young. I want to say to all women in their 30s, 40s and 50s who are coming of age that unexpected fun things come up all the time. If you are open to it, new fun adventures await around the next corner. You shouldn’t be afraid of aging, but instead be curious, Grynet told Aftonbladet.

During periods in her life, she has struggled with various fears and tried to find a cure for them.

– I thought that if I seek out the fear and look it in the eye, I might get rid of it. So I trained as a skydiver. Unfortunately, it didn’t help, but oh, what a kick it was, she tells Hemtrevligt.

“Unbelievable that such a short flake could become so big”

Jobs have also been mixed with romances and hustle and bustle. In 1965 Grynet married the Norwegian composer Alfred Janson and they had a son Theodor (54 years old today).

The relationship fell apart and in 1983 she married the now deceased Count Noppe Lewenhaupt. A life as a single mother was exchanged for castle life on his manor outside Västerås.

Hunting was organized there and Grynet obtained a hunting license. Parties with the king were a given feature. But the most talked about romance was the one with Frank Andersson in the 80s.

– It’s unbelievable that such a short flake could become so big, I really don’t understand it. It was a fun bracket, but not much more, she told Aftonbladet.

Today, Grynet lives separately with Douglas von Sydow, an arrangement she intends to continue with.

– It’s going on and we’re still living apart. It suits us. We have no plans to move in together and the reason is simply that you have your own “space”. It also makes it nice when we do meet.

“Maybe won’t get an award for being the world’s best mother”

She regards her son Theodor as the greatest love of her life.

– I thought it was great to become a mother. But now he’s an old man. Baby yesterday, old man today, how fast time flies.

Grynet worked a lot when Theodor was little, but thinks she did the best she could.

– I can’t pick pieces I regret and go around and knead it. It was okay, we survived. I thought it was a luxury to have children and Theodor was the cutest person in the world. I was also in the middle of my jobs, that’s how life was then. I may not get an award for being the world’s best mother, but that’s okay, she concludes to Hemtrevligt.

The son moved to Norway – Grynet’s grief: “The worst…”

When Grynet appeared in Stjärnorna paslotte, she told about her son Theodor.

– I did something very stupid, Grynet explained, followed by:

– When Theodor was 13, his father said “Now he will come to Oslo and continue high school in Norway”. The worst part was that he never came back. He settled there, says Grynet.

The separation from her son was very difficult, a lot because she was not prepared to lose him to the neighboring country.

– It was tough. I hadn’t really expected that.
