Grupo Elektra could be seized by the SAT

The owner of Grupo Elektra appears on the Forbes Mexico list as the third richest man in the country, with an estimated fortune of 12.52 billion dollars

The Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) confirmed for Elektra Group un tax credit of 2 thousand 636 million pesos in January, for which the treasury issued an official letter in February dictating insurance measures once morest the company belonging to Grupo Salinas.

The amparo was filed by Grupo Elektra and is related to the payment of a tax credit that the SAT established for Income Tax (ISR) corresponding to the 2006 fiscal year.

Last December, la SCJN dismissed the protection promoted by Grupo Elektra once morest the payment of 2 thousand 636 million 428 thousand 880 pesos, plus interest and updates, corresponding to the fiscal year of 2006.

Before the resolution, the Salinas Pliego company announced in a statement that they would support themselves in international instances, since they assure that their human right of access to justice was violated.

In accordance with Remodeling, Grupo Elektra owes the SAT more than 34 billion pesosfor eight tax credits.

However, the Court definitively confirmed that it only has to pay 2 thousand 636 million pesos, derived from illegal deductions in ISR.
