Grunting inmate: Piglet ended up in the police cell in Perg

A detention cell of the Perg Police Inspectorate was converted into a stable on Wednesday. The reason: A pig got lost on the B3. A police patrol from Perg rescued the little runaway from the busy main road and took “Babe” with them to the inspection. “After the ‘arrest’, the piglet was allowed to mentally process the adventure in the cell before it was handed back to the owner,” said the state police headquarters via Facebook.

The “arrest” may have been peaceful. A research team with Austrian participation recently came to the conclusion that pigs display particularly courteous behavior. The study showed that the animals usually open the gate to locked-out conspecifics very quickly and help each other in a targeted manner.
