Facts of nameless barbarity were mentioned this Thursday before the Namur criminal court. The victim, forever scarred, took refuge abroad. Only two of the three defendants appeared to appear in court, one of the protagonists still being sought.
The scene in question took place on August 5, 2022, between 2:54 a.m. and 4:05 a.m. The man who was the victim of this abuse, which was filmed by the defendants, found refuge in a grocery store located in near Boulevard Mélot at around 7:30 a.m. With a bloody face, he explained that she had been the prey of a settling of scores during the night while he was at the house of a friend, the third defendant in the case.
The victim, held against her will, suffered lacerations and stab wounds, was raped with a piece of wood and burned on the body with a hot plate. One of the perpetrators of this abuse has not been arrested since the events, while the second was sentenced on May 12, 2022 to 40 months in prison for attempted murder. He explains: “We had taken cocaine and drugs, alcohol too. I don’t really remember the scene. But I recognize the facts, the investigators showed me the videos.” 15 years in prison are required against the two men, as well as 5 years of provision to the sentencing court.

The reason for this massacre? The victim allegedly made advances towards the pregnant partner of the individual currently on the run. Deputy Vandermeiren specifies: “19 different wounds were noted by the pathologist on the victim, who had 2nd and 3rd degree burns. She had to be transferred to the Charleroi burn hospital. Scraps of skin were falling away from his body. She suffered incapacity for more than 4 months following this premeditated scene.”
Me Balaes asked the court to pronounce “a single-digit sentence” against his client, in admission of the facts since he saw the videos of the scene. The defendant’s counsel requests that the facts be reclassified as culpable abstention and refusal to provide assistance and a probationary suspension for what exceeds the 14-month preventive detention already carried out is requested. “She is only 21 years old, her record was clean at the time of the incident. She has been an alcoholic since the age of 10, suffers from mental retardation and was not able to resist the group effect. She did not touch the victim.”
