Choi’s return comes about five years after the sexual assault case became known, and about two years after he was released after serving a prison sentence on charges of aggravated semi-rape.
Choi, who debuted in the music industry as a member of FT Island in 2007, was involved in former Big Bang member Seungri’s ‘Burning Sun Gate’. In 2016, he was arrested and indicted along with singer Jung Joon-young on charges of intoxicating a woman and gang-raping her. In 2019, the first trial court sentenced Choi to five years in prison, but Choi objected and filed an appeal.
