Develop a group purchasing market for defibrillators (DEA) to help traders and hospitality operators in Charleroi who wish to acquire them under advantageous conditions: this is the proposal made by independent municipal councilor Nicolas Kramvoussanos in the latest bulletin of written questions from the municipal council.

In her response, the alderman in charge of Health, Alicia Monard, explains that she is carrying out a census of places equipped with defibrillators on the territory of the entity. “This mapping will be used in particular in our Le Bon Plan carolo application, which covers all the medical and social services in the region”she says.

Alderman for Commerce, his colleague Babette Jandrain intends to submit the group purchasing project to the Commerce/Tourism advisory council. “Many municipalities organize group purchases of energy for the benefit of their populationsobserves Nicolas Kramvoussanos. We would be the first city in Belgium to carry out such an operation and we would serve as an example, all without the slightest cost to local finances. By participating in this purchase, participants might perhaps save a life tomorrow! The cost of an AED is around €1,500, which is relatively expensive.”

6,000 potential traders

The idea is to group the order together to benefit from better prices. “At the entity level, some 6,000 traders and hospitality operators are activeaccording to the advisor. If only 1% were candidates, that would represent 60 defibrillators.” Heart Week 2024 is just under a year away. The City has this time to move forward on this matter.
