On the fringes of the ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov was apparently the victim of a theft. As the British tabloid “Sun” reports, a watch costing around 70,000 euros was stolen from him.
The tennis star is said to have been returning from training when the thieves on motorbikes followed the Bulgarian’s car. They are said to have torn the piece of jewelry from their wrists in stationary traffic. Before that, one of the perpetrators would have folded in the vehicle’s exterior mirror; when Dimitrov wanted to unfold it once more and stretched his hand out of the window, the theft happened.
The current number 25 in the world rankings has filed a complaint with the local police, who have started the investigation.
Just last year, four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel had a bag stolen in Barcelona. In addition, football star Robert Lewandowski had a similarly expensive watch stolen in the Catalan capital in the same way.
