Dennis Quaid is working on an amazing documentary, in which he draws attention to the greatest danger lurking on Earth. Acting exaggeration or brutal reality?
“There is basically a 100% chance that our sun will generate a solar storm that will hit hard, reach our Earth and the magnetic field around the Earth, and burn up everything electrical above ground, including our entire electrical grid” – explained Dannis Quaid in one of the most surreal and at the same time scariest interviews of the former Fox presenter.
The accomplished actor and musician Dennis Quaid gives us a glimpse of the “Grid Down, Power Up” into his upcoming documentary film, which highlights the inevitability of a massive solar storm (a Carrington event in 1859) that will have a catastrophic impact on Earth.
Quaid notes that at the time GMD (geomagnetic disturbance) destroyed the existing telegraph system and asks the host to think about the horrific effects such a disaster would have on society today. He notes:
“Imagine what such a big storm would do now… it would knock out not only the electricity, but our entire infrastructure. There would be no water in the tap. You wouldn’t be able to get gas in your car because the whole system would collapse.”
Quaid hopes that by raising awareness of the potential disaster, he can push politicians to take action to make the power grid more resilient to such events.
“It’s something we don’t like to think about…. and we are in no way prepared for it.”
The actor is not very optimistic. According to him, due to disagreements between the regulatory authorities and the power supply companies, we cannot expect too much good.
“Everything we rely on would disappear. The food would go bad in our fridge…” Quaid claims and warns that “within a year, 90% of the world’s population would starve, get sick, or commit suicide in a complete and total social catastrophe”.
