Jesse Williams, who camped for 12 years with Dr. Jackson Avery, will bid farewell to “Grey’s Anatomy” this Wednesday evening at 9:10 p.m. on the occasion of an episode rich in emotion.
The episode of Grey’s Anatomy broadcast tonight at 9:10 p.m. on TF1 marks a real turning point for the medical series since Jackson Avery, a character present since season 6, will bid farewell to the doctors of Gray Sloan.
This departure, wanted by his interpreter Jesse Williams, was initiated in episode 14 of season 17, proposed last Wednesday on the front page, which saw Jackson reconnect with April (Sarah Drew) in order to offer him to leave everything to leave with him in Boston, and take over his mother’s foundation.
After 12 years of good and loyal service in the skin of Doctor Avery, Jesse Williams will therefore make his last appearance in Grey’s Anatomy in episode 15 of season 17, entitled “Guard of honor”. Or two episodes before the final season, which will be broadcast on Wednesday March 30 on TF1.
Last May, when this special episode was broadcast on ABC, Jesse Williams returned to the reasons for his departure in a press release relayed by Deadline.
“I will be forever grateful for the endless opportunities given to me by Shonda Rhimes, the channel, the studio, my playing partners, our amazing team, Krista Vernoff, Ellen Pompeo, and Debbie Allen” he thus declared.
“The experience of having been able to create almost 300 hours of television is a gift that I will always cherish. I’m immensely proud of our work, the impact we’ve had, and being able to move forward with so many tools, opportunities, and dear friends.“.
Krista Vernoff, showrunner of the series, also reacted to the departure of Jesse Williams, which comes just weeks following that of another star cast member.
“Jesse is an extraordinary comedian and activist. Seeing him evolve for 11 years, on screen and off the set, has been a real pleasure. Jesse brings so much heart, depth, and intelligence to everything he does. We will miss him terribly, just like Jackson Avery, whom he embodied to perfection for so many years, will be missed.“.
Arrived at the cast of Grey’s Anatomy in season 6, at the time of the merger between Seattle Grace and Mercy West, Jesse Williams was promoted to regular the following year. He had quickly become one of the favorite characters of the fans, in particular thanks to his romantic relationship with April.
The actor’s contract coming to an end at the end of this season 17, he made the choice not to renew it in order to devote himself to new projects.
