The weakening furniture, automobile, construction and heating industries are now also having consequences for the foam specialist Neveon. The company, which belongs to the Greiner Group from Kremsmünster, will close locations in Germany by mid-2026. According to a release, two loss-making production sites in Ebersbach and Burkhardtsdorf as well as the administrative site in Wiesbaden are affected.
Despite intensive efforts, the locations are no longer competitive, according to Greiner. “In the interests of the entire company, after careful consideration and with a heavy heart, we decided to react to the difficult market conditions and close the locations,” Neveon boss Jürgen Kleinrath is quoted in the broadcast.
Social plan is being developed
This means the loss of jobs for 240 employees; they were informed of the decision today. A comprehensive social plan will be developed together with the employee representatives, according to the release. Neveon produces and processes around 300 different standard and special foams that are used in furniture or car seats.
The company generated sales of 641 million euros in the 2023 financial year and employed around 2,800 people at 55 locations in 14 countries. Neveon is one of the three operating divisions of Greiner, the world’s leading company for plastic and foam solutions. Greiner, based in Kremsmünster, was founded in 1868. A total of 10,500 employees generated sales of 2.12 billion euros in the last financial year.
