Austria’s national team striker Michael Gregoritsch scored his first triple pack as a professional footballer in the Europa League. The Styrian scored a flawless hat trick with goals in the 3rd, 8th and 36th minutes in SC Freiburg’s 5-0 home game against Olympiacos Piraeus on Thursday evening. Gregoritsch also prepared the 4-0 half-time score by Kiliann Sildillia (42nd). 20 minutes after the break, SC coach Christian Streich took his attacker off the field.
“Gregerl has it so difficult, injuries and all sorts of things. Then he makes it 1-0, simply world class. He scores three goals and played well,” said Freiburg coach Christian Streich, praising his match winner on the TV channel RTL+.

Gregoritsch has only scored three goals so far: in the jersey of the U21 national team in a 7-0 win against Liechtenstein in October 2015. This season has not gone as planned for the 29-year-old at club level. Gregoritsch remained goalless in 14 competitive appearances. In the national jersey, however, he scored an important goal against Sweden (3-1) in the European Championship qualification, and Gregoritsch also played well in the friendly against Germany (2-0).
