CHEF de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team at the 2024 Paris Olympics Anindya Novyan Bakrie asked all parties to pray for and support the struggle of the Indonesian women’s singles badminton athlete, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
Gregoria has successfully qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympics. Jorji, Gregoria’s nickname, beat South Korean representative Kim Ga Eun with a final score of 21-4, 8-21, and 23-21 at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena, Paris on Friday (2/8).
Anindya appreciated Jorji’s struggle, who had struggled through 3 games to ensure he qualified for the quarter-finals.
“We have to give a thumbs up to Gregoria. Especially in the third game, it was very tight, if you don’t have a strong heart, you could fall off. I have also met her and congratulated her,” said Anindya in her statement.
“We will help with the recovery because we will compete two days later. We ask for support and prayers from the Indonesian people,” said Anin.
In the quarterfinals, Jorji will face Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand, on Saturday (3/8). Gregoria had previously defeated Intanon in their last Uber Cup meeting this year. (Z-6)
