Prammer: Rescue of ORF Sport+ also secures leagues and competitions
Vienna (OTS) – “Our commitment to ORF Sport+ has borne fruit. He will continue to be available to Austrian sport in all its social impact. The range of sports will be gradually expanded both digitally and on ORF 1,” says sports spokeswoman for the Greens, Agnes Prammer, pleased regarding the successful solution for the popular channel. “The Austrian sports landscape is broad and diverse. It was important to us Greens to preserve this sporting ‘wealth’ in the future programs of the ORF,” emphasizes Prammer.
“With the specialist channel ORF Sport+, ORF has the opportunity to show a wide range of sports inclusively,” says Prammer. In their own magazines, for example, they report on sports for the disabled or schools. Even less well-known sports would have such a broadcasting platform. In addition, a special focus is placed on women’s competitions, for example with the women’s football magazine. With the forthcoming digital offer, the ORF will be able to cover all of this even better. Until then, however, it must be ensured that the entire range of socially significant sports reporting is preserved. “That is now guaranteed,” says the sports spokeswoman.
“We have worked side by side with organized sport for this good and workable solution. Apart from the information offered regarding the diversity in Austrian sport, the sheer survival of many leagues and competitions is now also secured with this negotiation result, because vital sponsorship contracts can only be maintained in connection with appropriate reporting,” emphasizes Prammer.
