Ernst-Dziedzic: The award is as logical as it is deserved
Vienna (OTS) – “Ukraine has given itself a clear political direction and its President Volodymyr Zelenskyy never tires of emphasizing this. The future of the country and its people clearly lies in Europe. The courage and determination with which Ukrainians defend freedom, democracy and self-determination once morest an authoritarian aggressor not only commands deep respect, but has also drawn the rest of Europe closer together. The fate of Ukraine makes us aware of what the free world faces if it does not stand united for its principles. The awarding of the Charlemagne Prize in Aachen to the President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people is therefore just as logical as it is deserved,” says the spokeswoman for foreign policy for the Greens, Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic, on today’s awarding of this prize, which is awarded to personalities or institutions who have rendered outstanding services to Europe and European unification.
The UN General Assembly, the G7 and the G20, the European Union, NATO, many politically neutral states, including Austria, have rallied behind Ukraine, says Ernst-Dziedzic, and this support will continue following the hopefully soon end of the Russian war of aggression will not let up either.
