With the purpose of boosting the local economy and promoting one of the most recognized dishes in the gastronomy of the northeastern Sierra of Puebla, the third edition of the Tlayyo Festival in the municipality of Teziutlán.
On this occasion, nine invited municipalities will participate: Avila Castle, Chignautla, San Juan Xiutelco and Hueytamalco.
This was announced by the director of Tourism of Teziutlán, Alejandro González Pérez, who at the press conference also announced that from July 29 to August 15, the 2022 Fair will be held in his municipality, in which there will be charreadas, bullfights, cockfights and artistic presentations.
He indicated that the festival will take place in the Plaza Cívica Niños Héroes, located in the center of that town, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., where in addition to regional food and desserts, there will be the presence of artisans, artistic events and 250 places to diners.
Although it was made clear that they want the food outlets to operate until 8:00 p.m.
“We estimate an economic spill of just over five million pesos for the two days and we expect some five thousand people, of which we believe that 20 percent will be foreigners,” he mentioned.
He specified that there will be a participation of 40 exhibitors for the two days of the festival, which will also have a children’s area and two artistic forums, where there will be dance and dance presentations, with which visitors will be able to learn more regarding the customs and traditions of this municipality, especially of the auxiliary boards, in which part of the indigenous culture predominates.
Likewise, there will be areas designed to promote tourism in Teziutlán, where attendees can learn regarding the options that already existderived from the tourist routes that have been implemented, both in the city center, as well as within the communities of Ahuata and Coyopol.
He recalled that previous editions were a total success due to the relevance of this typical dish in this region, so in this edition other surrounding municipalities were invited to enrich the gastronomic offer.
He also mentioned that there will be the participation of the five auxiliary boards, which will contribute their gastronomy, customs and traditions.
He indicated that among the exponents, there are housewives, businesses and restaurants that make tlayyosbut also gastronomy students who are studying at a university in this area.
It should be noted that this festival arose thanks to the impulse of Jorge Flores, who held the first two editions but for this one it was taken up by the local authorities.
For her part, the councilor for Tourism invited visitors to enjoy the festival and visit the Railway Museum and the House of Culture, which are located near the civic plaza.
