A once in a lifetime phenomenon! The green comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) will have its closest approach to Earth in 50,000 years and HERE we tell you what time and how to see it.
And green kite will light up the sky Nicaragua and other Latin American countries between the end of January and the beginning of February. This is an extraordinary phenomenon, since the celestial body known as C/2022 E3 (ZTF) it hadn’t been this close to Earth for 50,000 years, when our planet was still in the Stone Age. Do you want to know when and where to see this great astronomical event? Here we tell you.
To be more precise, C/2022 E3 (ZTF) It will be placed 42 million kilometers from Earth, which will make it brighter when observed from the planet’s surface, which will be possible even without the need for telescopes, as long as atmospheric conditions allow it.
Green kite in Nicaragua: when to see it?
The green kite is already visible in Nicaragua from mid-January with the help of binoculars or telescopes. However, it can be seen with the naked eye on days February 1 and 2, when the approach of 0.28 astronomical units will occur, which will make its apparent brightness greater.
What time will the green comet pass in Nicaragua?
The best time to appreciate the green comet on the indicated dates will be from 7.19 pm, as long as light pollution allows it. This celestial body can be seen in a north-northeast direction, as a greenish flash located near the Big Dipper.
Green kite 2023: how and where to see it in Nicaragua?
The engineer Mauricio García, vice president of the Nicaraguan Association of Amateur Astronomy “Los Cadejos”, recommends observing the green kite from areas with little light pollution.
“In Managua it might be done, but it is something complex because we well know that the population density is enormous and, therefore, there are many sources of light pollution, plus other agents that practically alter the process of the ozone layer (…) it can be complemented with a telescope, but in theory we can see it with the naked eye,” he told VosTV.

The green kite will still be visible in the northern hemisphere until February 5. Until that date, the celestial body will move through the Giraffe (Camelopardalis) and then reach Auriga.
