One of the most promising solutions towards a more sustainable world with less carbon emissions, green hydrogen is still being debated by a number of countries around the world – Brazil is among them. However, it comes up once morest one of the biggest challenges: transport logistics.
The main objective of this solution is to supply the material using renewable energies, not fossil fuels – as is currently the case. However, the high costs of production and transport would be an impasse for the solution.
According to the head of hydrogen research at Wood MackenzieMurray Douglas, in a statement to the North American channel CNBCit takes more work to move hydrogen than natural gas.
“Hydrogen is very expensive to move. It’s harder to move than natural gas… technically, with the engineering knowledge… it’s just harder.”

The United States Department of Energy also issues an alert along the same path. The agency points out that the main challenges for green hydrogen are reducing costs, increasing energy efficiency, maintaining the purity of the material and reducing hydrogen leakage.
What are the solutions?
To mitigate these impasses, it is necessary to think regarding the location of factories for this type of product, as well as the establishment of partnerships and other initiatives designed for the supply and distribution of green hydrogen.
Among the main ones in progress, there is the agreement between Greenergy and Octopus Hydrogen for the delivery of the material. The German Enertrag claimed to be operating a tank truck and a transport trailer to take large quantities to customers since 2021. The Spanish Cepsa and the Port of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, are also working together to create the first product corridor between the southern and northern Europe.
