After a spectacular increase in 2022, green credits are becoming ever more successful. In the first quarter of the year, 31,000 “green” credits were granted, which constitutes a historic record as well as an increase of 17.5% compared to the same period in 2022.t even three times more than five years ago, indicate the Professional Credit Union (UPC) and Febelfin. This is a historic record

The total value of these credits is also increasing, by 34.2%, reaching half a billion euros.

These credits must be intended at least 50% for green investments. They are used, among other things, to finance insulation work (roof, glazing, etc.), the purchase of photovoltaic panels, heat pumps, ventilation systems (VMC), of charging stations, etc.

Auto loans are also increasing

The mobility sector is also experiencing significant changes“, emphasizes Febelfin. “The high prices of ecological vehicles and their essential accessories, such as charging stations, still represent an obstacle for many. Yet, consumer credit bridges this gap and facilitates the transition to more ecological means of transport.”

“Recent figures confirm that Belgians continue to take out more loans for ecological renovations and electric cars.”

Bart Vervenne

president of the UPC

“Recent figures confirm that Belgians continue to take out more loans for ecological renovations and electric (hybrid) cars, and for increasingly higher amounts.
