The highly anticipated poster for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 entry “Green Bones” has officially been released, generating excitement among film enthusiasts.
In a stunning reveal on Instagram, GMA Pictures showcased the poster prominently featuring the film’s lead stars, Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, both acclaimed for their powerful performances.
The innovative design of the poster artfully combines the faces of Dennis and Ruru, beautifully halved and blended into one striking image adorned in various shades of green. At the heart of their combined visages lies a captivating chain that morphs into a tree, symbolizing growth and entanglement with the past.
“Paano ka lalaya mula sa nakaraan? Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid search for hope and redemption in this gripping drama,” the thought-provoking caption read, hinting at the film’s deep emotional journey.
“Green Bones” unfolds the harrowing tale of a man portrayed by Dennis, who is infamously known for the brutal murder of his own sister and her child. As he nears his parole hearing, a newly assigned prison guard played by Ruru becomes deeply invested in ensuring he remains incarcerated, resorting to extreme measures to achieve this goal.
The film’s narrative is rooted in an original story crafted by JC Rubio, the senior documentary manager of GMA Public Affairs, adding a layer of authenticity to its creation.
The screenplay is a collaborative effort from National Artist Ricky Lee and the celebrated MMFF 2023 Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza, promising a compelling and well-structured narrative. The direction is led by Zig Dulay, renowned for his critically acclaimed film “Firefly,” which adds another layer of anticipation for audiences.
“Green Bones” is a joint production of GMA Pictures and Public Affairs, with distribution handled by Columbia Pictures, making its theatrical debut set for December 25, coinciding with Christmas Day celebrations.
In addition to Dennis and Ruru, the film’s ensemble cast includes the talented Kylie Padilla and Sofia Pablo, further enriching the storyline with their performances.
