Greek government wins vote of no confidence | Europe

With a ratio of 156 votes in favor and 143 once morest, the Greek government on January 27 won the election vote of no confidence proposed by the left-wing opposition, related to a wiretapping scandal targeting high-ranking politicians, military officials, journalists and business leaders in the country.

Accusations once morest the government of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis have increased since August 2022, following the leader of the opposition Socialist Party PASOK – the third largest party in the country. Greeksaid the national intelligence agency EYP tracked his phone in 2021.

The government has denied all allegations of intentional conduct eavesdropping. Prime Minister Mitsotakis confirmed that wiretapping was done legally, but he said it was inappropriate and he himself did not agree with this practice.

Even so, the opposition sees the scandal as a danger to the nation. According to the allegations, Spyware National intelligence agency EYP can monitor cell phone calls, contacts and stored data, as well as the recording device and camera of the device being tracked.
