The infant died in hospital. In the zodiac where he was, 34 men, women and children were rescued alive.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, 1,500 people were rescued in the first eight months of 2022.

A two-month-old boy was found dead on Friday following a migrant boat sank off the island of Lesvos in Greece, the medical examiner told AFP on Saturday. The infant was taken to hospital where it was declared dead, said the medical examiner, Theodoros Nousias.
A zodiac carrying migrants, mainly from Africa, overturned when it hit rocks in the Fara area, according to sources at the Lesbos migrant reception center. During the rescue operations, 34 men, women and children were found alive. Two people were slightly injured.
According to the Greek Coast Guard, 1,500 people were rescued in the first eight months of 2022, compared to just under 600 last year.
