Greater Libreville, soon to be better supplied –

Hope for better access to drinking water in Greater Libreville is now possible thanks to work to strengthen the capacity of dedicated equipment undertaken as part of the Libreville Integrated Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Program (PIAEPAL).

The PIAEPAL steering committee was particularly reassuring regarding the progress of the sites visited on several where it said it had noted notable progress, notably on the site of the water tower in the town of Ntoum (38 kilometers from Libreville, on national road No. 1) where the work is 90% complete.

“The work that has been carried out on this castle for the past year has been practically completed for two and a half months. However, some improvements were necessary so that the work might be received at the end of July.”declared Antoine Diallo, Head of the Ntoum water tower construction site control mission.

The infrastructure under rehabilitation includes the Cité de la Caisse reservoir, with a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters, and the water tower in the Sotéga district, all located in the 2th Libreville district, with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters. The PK5 pumping station, essential for reducing the pressure of water coming from Ntoum using anti-ram tanks, was also inspected.

PIAEPAL, financed by the Gabonese state with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) for a total amount of 77 billion FCFA, aims to improve the supply of drinking water in Greater Libreville.
