Are you ready for a great shooting event in Patras? The reason for the championship match of the Greek Cup, which will take place on September 29 in our city. You see, the Shooting Federation of Greece entrusted the organization to the Shooting Sports Association of Patras, with its people already in general mobilization.
The matches will be attended by teams from the 3rd geographical zone of the Federation, i.e. clubs from Central and Southern Greece and in fact by the time these lines were written, the participations had reached 50, from our places, Thebes, Kalamata , the Ionian Islands and other areas. The question that arises, of course, is whether Patras can at some point reach the high level of Corinth, which is very high in shooting. Last year, in fact, it organized a Pan-European championship (with 1,800 entries!), while next year it will also organize a World Championship, as it has modern facilities that… you would be ashamed to return to Patras!
The people of the Shooting Sports Club of Patras do, however, a very good job, numbering around 100 members. As the SASP member Andreas Kapotas described to “P”: “Our base is Aroi. We also have a fixed target, that is what Anna Korakaki does and a clay target, with the discs that are thrown and hit by the rifles. At the same time, we also have sections for children, with an air gun, a pistol and a rifle.” The SASP has in its ranks a champion of the Armed Forces (Giorgos Alevizopoulos), an official coach (Vasiliki Nikolakopoulou) and judges, shooters and trainers. It is headed by the president of OEVESNA, Dimitris Nikolakopoulos.
