Great performance by Polish kayaker. Wiktor Glazunow will fight for medals

For now, Polish fans may have mixed feelings watching the performances of Polish kayakers and canoeists in the semi-finals of their events. At 11:30, the fourth event began – the men’s C-1 1000 meters.

Among the participants was Viktor Glazunov, who confidently sailed through the qualifying round, winning his race and finishing sixth overall in that stage. On Friday, as we have become accustomed to, he swam in the first semi-final.

The White and Red started really well, after the first few strokes he took the lead. However, it was important in which position he would reach the finish line. Only the top four advanced to the final. After 250 meters, the Pole was slightly ahead of the German Sebastian Brendel.

At the next measuring point, the 30-year-old was in second place, but he was still swimming at a good pace. At this stage, only the five kayakers mattered. In the last 250 meters, Glazunov was still in control, finishing third in 3:45.30. The final was scheduled for 1:50 p.m.

Let us recall that everything started at 10:30 and the women’s 500 meters race in C-2. Sylwia Szczerbińska and Dorota Borowska took part in the first semi-final. Our competitors did well and with a time of 1:57.19 they took fourth place, confidently advancing to the final.

The same was not achieved by Martyna Klatt and Helena Wiśniewska, as well as Karolina Naji and Anna Puławska. Both pairs failed to make it to the top four of their semi-final in the K-2 competition over a distance of 500 meters, which is quite a sensation.

Jakub Stepun and Przemysław Korsak, who were not candidates to advance to the final of the K-2 500-meter competition, did not cause any surprises. The Polish team started well, but with each passing meter they lost more and more and ended up in eighth place in their semi-final.
