The doors of the Gota de Plata Auditorium opened this Saturday, April 6, to show the splendor and grandeur of the largest tenango in the world, which will be exhibited this weekend, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Visitors from various parts attended this event, organized by the entity’s Tourism Secretariat, who had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural and artistic wealth of Tenango de Doria; while enjoying artistic performances, interactive workshops, informative conferences and the sale of typical crafts from the different regions of the state.
“This mural, which has gained fame, brings a very important message, everything is possible in unity and if we cooperate, if we manage to dream it and we strive to achieve it,” said Wendy Juárez, president of the Manos Unidas Artesanas Association.
It should be remembered that the tenango of this exhibition is a work that measures 15.14 meters long and 6.89 meters high, covering a total of 103.76 square meters, distributed in 50 sections of 25 canvases each.
It is the result of the effort and dedication of 1,247 artisans, 167 artists and 28 multitasking collaborators who worked tirelessly for its creation.
The materials used for its production included 130 square meters of raw blanket, 75 thousand meters of thread in 33 different colors, distributed in 1,364 boxes of thread, as well as 1,500 embroidery hoops.
This impressive work required a period of 4 months for planning, management and design, followed by 21 days dedicated to embroidery and assembly.
It is essential that both tourists and residents know and disseminate the unique talent of Hidalgo’s hands, thus contributing to the preservation and promotion of this invaluable cultural element.
