The 46th edition of La Bâtie-Festival de Genève ended with an increase in attendance, to 26,000 people. Even if the participation does not reach that of before the pandemic, the organizers speak of a situation “in good shape”.
Over 18 days, the average fill rate stands at three quarters of capacity, they said on Sunday. In total, 60 proposals were planned on 45 sites, in 24 towns in the canton of Geneva, neighboring France and the canton of Vaud. This edition marks “an expected return to normal”, according to the organizations.
Among the animations, the actress Vimala Pons completed her show in Swiss premiere three times. The choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui made his debut at the head of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève in front of a thousand people.
More than 100 programmers
Territorial projects have extended collaborations with many municipalities in Greater Geneva. Music once once more brought together a large audience, notably with the female collective Berceuses.
In total, more than one hundred programmers and professionals from Switzerland and other countries attended. The festival contributed to the production and co-production of ten new animations.
Among these were a show alternating stage and cinema and a mapping with electronic sounds. The next edition will take place from August 24 to September 10, 2023.
