According to his publisher, Prince Harry’s memoirs have already sold 400,000 copies. This was announced by the publisher Transworld Penguin Random House on Tuesday followingnoon. The autobiography “Spare” (German: “Reserve”) was published in the morning. In addition to the hardcover editions, the copies sold also include e-books and audio books.
“We always knew this book would fly, but it exceeds even our most optimistic expectations,” said Larry Finlay, the publisher’s managing director, according to the PA news agency. “As far as we know, the only books that sold more on day one are the ones with the other Harry (Potter).”
The more than 500-page autobiography, which Harry penned with the help of ghostwriter JR Moehringer, includes his perspective on the tensions within the royal family and many personal details. The book was erroneously available in Spanish bookstores for a short time last week, so parts of the content have already been made public. (dpa)
