Graphics card sales plummet

Minus 15.3% compared to the previous quarter and minus 38% between 2021 and 2022. These are not very encouraging figures for the main GPU shippers in the world.

In the meantime, the situation has gradually returned to normal and the market has thus hoped to recover. However, the main players in the market (AMD, Intel, NVIDIA) have published in their various financial results not very encouraging figures. And right now, graphics card sales have plummeted.

According to a report published by the institute Jon Peddie ResearchGPU shipments were down -15.3% from the previous quarter and -38% from 2021 to 2022.

AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA are all directly impacted by this slump in GPU shipments, but to varying degrees. NVIDIA is the least affected company with a fall of “only” -11.7%. In addition, NVIDIA saw its share of the dedicated card sector increase from 78 to 82%. The situation is a little more complicated on the side of AMD, which recorded a drop in its exports of -12.7%. Finally, Intel is the most impacted company with a drop of -16.5% compared to the third quarter of 2022.

Note that the computer world is not only experiencing a significant drop in sales of graphics cards. Laptop sales fell -43%, the biggest drop in 11 years. Similarly, sales of products for desktop computers are down nearly 24%.
