Winner in Oberstdorf on Thursday, Halvor Egner Granerud also won the second contest of the Four Hills Tournament on Sunday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The only Swiss in the running, Gregor Deschwanden scored a few points by finishing 21st.
Halvor Egner Granerud is currently untouchable on this Austro-German Tour. The 26-year-old Norwegian, in the lead following a first jump measured at 140 meters on Sunday, did not tremble in the final to land at 142 meters. He won with 6.4 points ahead of his runner-up, the Slovenian Anze Lanisek (140.5 and 137 meters).
This 16th World Cup victory allows Halvor Egner Granerud to take a first step towards the final victory in this Tour. After two competitions, his margin over his Polish runner-up Dawid Kubacki, 3rd both in Oberstdorf and Garmisch, is indeed more than 26 units. Third, Piotr Zyla is already at 40 points!
Deprived of the final race in Oberstdorf, Gregor Deschwanden corrected the situation during this New Year’s jump. The Lucerne man made two solid jumps (127.5 and 126.5 meters) to rank 21st, his best result of the season. He scored points for the third time in ten competitions contested in this 2022/23 fiscal year.
